You say smileys. She says smiley faces. He says emoticons. You're all right. They are a great way to show the real you online, and they are free. In the early days of the internet, you were limited to typing things like :) on your keyboard. Now you can get animated smileys, talking smileys, 3D smileys and many more, with thousands to choose from. Of course you can use your smileys on Facebook, MySpace, e-mail, MSN spaces, IM, blogs and pretty much anything you can think of. You've probably noticed there are LOTS of websites with free smileys. How do you pick the right one.

Don't worry, it's not as hard as it looks. Your best bet for downloading your free smiley face is one of these three: Smiley Central, Freeze Smileys or Crawler Smileys. Each site is a bit different. My pick is Smiley Central, but your may like the style of one of the others. Good news - they are free - try them all and keep the one you like. So, here's the plan: Just pick one and try it. Don't like those? Try another (you may want to bookmark this site so you can get back here to try the next one). That's it. Here they are, have fun!

Smiley Central is probably the oldest and most popular. To download your smiley face from Smiley Central click here, or on this lovely pic.

Next is the Crawler Smiley Toolbar. As I mentioned above, there is no telling which you will like. To get your smiley face from Crawler Smiley click here, or click on the pic.

Last, but not least, are emoticons from Freeze.com. You guessed it, you can get your smiley face from Freeze.com by clicking here, or there.

Did I say three? Well here is one more I just found out about, that looks a little different. It's from the folks who brought you SmileyCentral. Check this out! With Smiley Creator, you can actually customize your own Smileys. Reminds me of Mr. Potato Head. Sweet!
